RUROUNI KENSHIN

Rurouni Kenshin is the story of Himura Kenshin, the Bakumatsu assassin popularly known as Battousai the Slasher.  He became a wanderer, seeking atonement for the murders he had committed to usher a new era of peace in Japan: the Meiji Restoration.  He vowed never to kill again, and instead wields a sakabatou, a reverse-edged sword, to protect rather than to destroy.  *Rukawa-kun: What, no basketball?*

Helping Kenshin in his quest for atonement are Kamiya Kaoru, kendo master who took him in and Sagara Sanosuke, former Sekihou trooper and gangster. *Rukawa-kun: He became Kenshin's pal after Kenshin beat the hell out of him.*  Also with him are Yahiko and Megumi.  Yahiko was a street rat/pickpocket who became Kaoru's kendo pupil.  Takani Megumi serves as the group's doctor.
