TAKANI MEGUMI Takani Megumi is the sole survivor of an affluent and known family of doctors who perished in a fire during the Bakumatsu. She pursued a medical career as an assistant to a doctor who turned out to be an opium producer for the Oniwabanshu. The doctor was killed and the gang forced Megumi to take the doctor's place and continue producing their supply of opium. Later on, she decided to run away from the Oniwabanshu, taking with her the formula for making cheap, mass-produced opium. It was here that she met the Kenshingumi who eventually helped her get out of the Oniwabanshu's clutches. She easily got on Kaoru's nerves by flirting with Kenshin, thus earning her the nickname "Kitsune Onna" or fox lady. Sanosuke disliked her at first, upon knowing the role she played in opium production, but later on ended up risking his life to save her. *Rukawa-kun: Sanosuke likes her...he's just too doahou to admit it.* Megumi proved to be a valuable ally to the Kenshingumi: healing Kenshin's battle wounds, curing Yahiko from poison and fixing Sanosuke's broken fist time and again. She later found work as Dr. Gensai's assistant and became famous as the pretty "lady doctor". In the Jinchuu arc, Megumi went to Europe to pursue her medical studies. There is no mention of Megumi actually liking anyone *Rukawa-kun: She flirts with everyone.* but i think she likes Sanosuke even though she always insults him and makes fun of his...uh...low IQ. |
