SILOPOR,
Empresa de Silos Portuários, S.A. is the portuguese port-silos company,
operating in the two main portuguese ports, runing two terminals in the port of Lisbon (TRAFARIA and BEATO)
and one elevator at the port of LEIXÕES, on the
north coast of the country. With a network of 440,000
mt of nominal storage capacity, SILOPOR facilities can
accomodate, if necessary, all the portuguese imports through those ports, at an year round
average of 4 Mt of grains and non-grain food and feed ingredients
(ngfi's) coming in European originated small coasters or atlantic sea-going vessels.
SILOPOR operates in the handling business,
dealing with all types of agribulk products, with a global share of around 50% of the
portuguese import market, having no interests in the trading business whatsoever, thus
servicing all the import/distributing companies that operate in the trading market, under
a duty-free status, if necessary.
Each of the three port silos installations has a specific aim
in SILOPOR's developing policy of improving through quality its handling/storage ability
for all the various imported agribulks:

in the Mediterranean and western European areas. |
 |
BEATO
GRAIN TERMINAL, located on the mainstream of the industry, along the
south/north highway, with first class railway loading/unloading capabilities. |
 |
LEIXÕES
PORT ELEVATOR, with an adjacent mechanised flat warehouse, both 600m
distant from the port of Leixões quays, is the only storage-lung available in the area to
support the high-speed grab discharge, available at the port. |
