Trafaria Grain Terminal
At the mouth of Tagus river, TRAFARIA
is a sophisticated high-tec agribulk terminal, with 200,000 Mt storage
capacity, having a pier bridge on which three pneumatic 1,000 tph Simon Carves
unloaders are installed to discharge two 200-270m LOA vessels, at the same time, if
necessary.
These facilities were designed,
not only to solve all the portuguese import necessities, in terms of deep water mooring of
Panamax and Capesized vessels (51 ft max. draught), but also perform transhipment
operations at high speed rates.
At 25,000 mt a day,
transatlantic vessels can be unloaded at TRAFARIA, allowing three diferent
types of grain at the same time and, direct or via-silo, transhiped, at the same rate, to
coasters, handy-sized or Panamax vessels, up to 39 ft. load-draught.
Barges or small coasters of up
to 20 ft. draught can be loaded at a second loading pier, fed by four spouts
of 500 mt per hour each, or 1,000 tph if used in pairs.
International Transhipment
is a priority aim in SILOPOR's policy of exploration of TRAFARIA Terminal.
In fact, TRAFARIA features and its privileged geografical situation are exceptional
conditions for it to act as a turtable of traffic, between the American Continent and the
Mediterranean, Black Sea and North Africa ports, which are within its main area of
influence.
Part of the 200,000 mt concrete
silos were built with special devices inside, to handle non flowing products, on which SILOPOR,
with the additional aid of specific gear, is nowadays recognized as a vertical storage
specialist for ngfi's, with a more than one million tons per year experience
on that type of meals and derivatives.
