Mastop-H
FACTS SHEET
 | First and only natural homeopathic intra mammary remedy registered in South Africa. Also
registered in Colombia, Slovakia and Romania. |
 | It boosts the natural immune system of the quarter treated,
it can do no harm! |
 | Mastop-H does not affect cheese and yogurt manufacturing
processes. |
 | It leaves no harmful residue in the milk |
 | Study has shown efficacy (93 to 98%) of Mastop-H® as
prevention of calving mastitis at dry off time (1 syringe per quarter). |
 | As a consequence of the boosting of the immune system, the Somatic Cell Count increases
in the treated quarter after the injection. It then decreases and reach normal
levels in 10-15 days. |
 | Local action only (No increase of somatic cell count in untreated quarters). Consider
however the effect of bulk tank SCC if a large number of quarters are treated
simultaneously. |
 | No germ resistance likely. |
 | No withdrawal period is necessary if the organoleptic qualities of the milk are
satisfactory. |
 | No minimal regimen, Stop treatment when inflammatory reaction or improvement of symptoms
is noted. |
 | Inflammatory reaction (quarter is red and swollen) after injection is acceptable and
should not be taken as failure of the therapy. It is a natural reaction of the body. |
THE SECRET OF MASTITIS CONTROL:
 | Weekly or fortnightly control of the herd (Mast O Test) |
 | Select affected quarter (Monthly SCC survey - Mast O Test) |
 | 1 injection of Mastop-H in affected quarter after thorough milking. Repeat after 24
hours. |
 | If no improvement after 2 weeks (Mast O Test reading show no increase in number): repeat
treatment for 3 days. |
 | If no improvement, investigate and consider your options. If repeated history of
mastitis, consider culling. |
 | Discuss this program with your Veterinarian. |
CLINICAL MASTITIS:
 | BEWARE: The Mast O Test reading could be normal |
 | Inject 1 Mastop-H® and wait for 24 hours(unless the local and/or general
conditions require more aggressive veterinary treatment in which case you should consult
your Veterinarian immediately). |
 | If no improvement, 1 injection morning and evening milkings for 2 consecutive days |
 | Stop treatment as soon as an improvement is noticed. |
 | If no improvement, use large spectrum Antibiotic, they often work better after initial
preparation of the udder with Mastop-H® |
