DELTA DOGS CAN DO ANYTHING???????.
Hello everyone, my name is Simba (Bigbell Miss Simba CDX) and I am
a Delta PetPartners Dog along with my housemates, Bo and Molly.
As this is our first
newsletter for the Delta PetPartners I thought I would introduce
myself a little more to all of my other furry friends out there and
in doing so tell you about some of the things I get up to when I am
not donning the Delta bandana.
I LOOOOVVVVEEE FLYBALL. You
have to try this game out guys, it is awesome!!!! All the dogs get
their handlers to line up and we get another human to push a tennis
ball into a funny looking box thing and then the race is on. I get
so worked up but Mum keeps holding me so I have to yell at her to let
me go and when she does I jump four jumps and trigger this funny
looking box with my paws and abracadabra a ball pops out, I grab the
ball and run as fast as I can back to mum with the ball in my mouth
over the same four jumps so I can get the 'ratty' at the end. When I
get to the start/finish line one of my other friends gets a turn. We
all have so much fun and it keeps us all really fit.
Our teams are made up of four
dogs and the object of the game is too see how fast we can get down
to the box, get the ball and then return it to our handlers. Usually
we run against another team of four dogs and the fastest team wins.
However, you do not have to be lightning fast to do Flyball as they
run four time divisions which is great because those that are like
myself who enjoy playing the game but are a bit slower and a bit
older than the young guns can still participate. I might not be the
fastest dog in the Flyball team but I am by far the loudest and at
the moment the smallest and my Mum thinks I am the cutest (not that
she is biased).
At the moment there is only
one place in Perth to train Flyball and that is with the WA K9 Flyers
who train at the Canine Association Grounds on a Thursday evening
from 7:30pm on the grassed area directly in front of the office.
C'mon guys get your Mum's and Dad's to bring you along to have a go,
if they want to know more they can give my Mum a call, Sue Scott, on
(08) 9455 3789 for more details.
Happy Dogging!!!
