The War on the James


The Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, New Market Heights, and now the Federals of Plaisted’s Brigade, 10th Corps move forward towards the same ground they had fought over 6 days before, against the determined and entrenched men of Lt. Gen. Richard Anderson's Division of Longstreet's Corps.

On October 10-12, 2003, the Rowdy Pards and the Liberty Rifles will be hosting the War on the James at Harrison''s Landing, Virginia. This event will feature over 1400 acres of pristine ground, public education as well as immersion, patrols and reconnaissance, civilian interaction and realistic unit actions along the Darbytown Road on October 13, 1864.

This will be an all campaign event, with enforced authenticity regulations. There will a public demonstration on Saturday for approximately four hours, with the remainder of the event focused on the men in the ranks and the chance to experience what those men faced so many years ago.

The 10th Corps was fresh from the Carolinas, and was now facing the experienced veterans of "Tige" Anderson's Brigade of Georgians along what was the Darbytown Road.

David ""Duke"" Culberson, (dacatty@aol.com) will be the Confederate Commander of the troops portraying the 8th Georgia Volunteer Infantry Regiment.  The number of CS participants will be restricted to 100 men.


S. Chris Anders, (ltcolcsa@hotmail.com), will lead the Federals representing the undermanned 8th Connecticut and the 24th Massachusetts of Plaisted’s Brigade.
