Welcome to the Waterose Art Gallery
Original Paintings by Waterose

I have been painting and drawing since I was a small child. I have worked in many mediums including clay, charcoal, pastels, oils, acrylics and more recently, water colours.

I would say that oils have been my favourite medium for most of my life. There’s nothing else quite like the fragrance and behaviour of oil paints on a fresh canvas under the influence of a palette knife laden with colours. The painting emerges with the mood.

However, because of my inherent passion for water it was natural and inevitable that one day I would try this challenging and more difficult medium. Water colours behave very differently from oils in how the colours apply, flow, mix, stain, dry and transform light. It’s like painting from the inside out. While there are many different techniques available to achieve specific effects, I like to keep my paintings fairly simple and focus on the behaviour and flow of the paint.

Every painting has a story - at least for me they do!
