Margaret
Margaret is a catty character because of her frustration with Brick. Ashley Judd is perfect for the part because of her acting abilities. She does well with a variety of different roles, including being bitter and sassy. Ashley Judd is not only dramatic, but she can be seductive and provocative, just as Margaret is called to be.
Brick
Brick’s character is highly indifferent and broken. This role also calls for an actor who is charming and had good acting skills. Jude Law is the actor for this part because he has played many dramatic roles, including starring in a soap opera, and he has a distinct attractiveness.
Mae
Aside from being just all around nasty, Mae is snobby, disrespectful, and bratty. Julianne Moore’s versatility as an actress and her ability to look malicious make her perfect for the part.
Gooper
Like his wife Mae, Gooper is also a snob. He is a resentful lawyer with the stereotypical lawyer personality. Ben Affleck fits this character because he can play both a devious and bitter role, as shown previously in his large acting career.
Big Daddy
Big Daddy can best be described as a vulgar “Mississippi redneck” with a crude sense of humor. With so much experience and such a large diversity of roles he has played, Gene Hackman is best for this part.
Big Mama
Big Mama shares a lot of the same crudeness that Big Daddy has, but she is also sincere. Shirley Maclaine has a lot of personality and a crazy sense of humor, but she can also play the sincere role.
