Ambassador Dr.Muhammad Shahid Amin Khan

Dr. Muhammad Shahid Amin Khan of Pakistan is the 4th World Chairman of the International Human Rights Commission.The first Muslim and Asian to be elected from its members in the history of IHRC. He began his term from 24th of Feb, 1996 for ten years.

Dr. Khan was born in Lahore, Pakistan on 2nd of June, 1962. He studied at Central Model School and completed his graduate studies at Government Collage Lahore-Pakistan, in 1981.

From 1982 to 1984, he undertook postgraduate studies in Journalism at the Punjab University Lahore in 1987.He got his L.L.B from University Law Collage Lahore in 1990.

Dr.Khan received his Ph.D. in International Law (I.A.I - U.K.Campus) in 1996

Dr. Khan joined Daily Azad Lahore as staff reporter in 1980, while he was studying at GC Lahore, He also worked as Editor Weekly Awam Ki Pukkar Lahore from Feb 1983 to December 1984, and he founded Daily Jaiza Lahore in 1985 and served as its Chief Editor.

Dr. Khan had played very important role in student life and in Pakistan's active politics, he served as the Secretary General, Vice President of School Student Union, Secretary General and President of College Union, and Secretary General of All Pakistan Students Association.

Dr.Khan started his political carrier with Pakistan People's Party, while he was child, he delivered his first speech in the age of seven years, he addressed the historic meeting before the Great Leader of Muslim Ummah Prime Minister Z.A.Bhutto at Gole Bagh Lahore which was named Nasir Bagh by the Z.A.Bhutto in 1968.He served Pakistan Pepole's Party as an active member and as Secretary General of People's Youth Organization.

Dr. Khan was the first Chief Administrator of Pakistan Boy Scouts Open Group and was awarded three timesQuaid-e-Azam Award by the President of Pakistan General Zia ul Haq in 1982,1983and in 1984.

Dr. Khan was also honoured by the His holiness Pope of Vatican with the Order of Pope in October 1999 , he also honoured with the Hijra Madel by the World Hijra Council at Jeddah. The United Nations Secretary General Dr.Butrus Butrus Ghali also honoured him on his services for human rights in 1992 as the Ambassador of Human Rights and World Peace for Life. He is also serving as the Ambassador of The International Human Rights Commission from 1996 as the World Chairman of IHRC.

Dr. Khan joined International Human Rights Commission in 1988 as the Chairman of Jaiza Welfare Trust International-Pakistan as founder Organization. He served IHRC as its first Vice Chairman for Asia from 1988 to 1993 and Acting World Chairman from 1993 to 1996.

Dr. Khan also served as Hon.Advisor to the Prime Ministers of Pakistan in 1988-1990,1990-93, 1993-96,& 1996-99. He worked with the Prime Ministers Mrs.Bhutto, Mr.G.M.Jatoi, Mr.Nawaz Sharif, Moien Qurashi, Mrs.Bhutto, Malik Marij Khalid, Nawaz Sharif, and as the Advisor to the President Ghulam Ishaq Khan on Human Rights and Political Affairs.

He got married with Mrs. Mervat Whaib Mansore a Palestinin and Mrs. Farah Shahid Amin Khan and from both wife's having Three sons and Two daughters.
