CHECKOUT PROCEDURE

K students may check out one book. Grades 1-5 may check out two books. Magazine check out will be available. We will have reference books and sets of encyclopedias for overnight checkout. Usual book check out is for two weeks. Students will be able to reserve and recheck books.

OVERDUE BOOKS

Students will receive overdue notices when a book is overdue. No fines are charged for overdue books. An I.O.U. will be sent home with the student to be signed by as parent if a book is lost. The I.O.U. states that the book will be paid for by the end of the year if it is not found. If a book is damaged and cannot be repaired, students are expected to pay a small fee to cover the cost.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS

Barton Creek's library is strongly supported by a large group of enthusiastic parent volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Ms. Boehme.

Tips for Caring for Books and Materials:

Keep your hands clean when using books.
Keep pages straight (not bent.)
Use a bookmark (do not lay the book upside down on a table.)
Turn pages from the top, not the bottom.
Keep books out of wet weather.
Keep books away from animals and small children who don't know what books are.
