Ensure your correct civic number is posted where it can be seen clearly from the roadway day or night. List emergency phone numbers and addresses by the phone. |
Prepare a home emergency kit including battery powered radio and flashlight, extra batteries, first aid kit, canned food and bottled water, medication, spare clothes, and a whistle. Also prepare an emergency kit for your car. |
Teach children how and when to call 911. |
Take a first aid course. |
Have a family meeting to discuss how you can be better prepared:Develop a family emergency plan.Select a common meeting place for your family. Choose one local and one distant family member or friend to call if your family gets seperated during an emergency. |
