You are visitor number Counter to visit this page, since October 03, 2000. Welcome to the former website of the Wedgeport & Plymouth Fire Department. In September of 2003, the Wedgeport & Plymouth Fire Department amalgamated with the Comeau's Hill & Little River Fire Department and is now called the Wedgeport & District Fire Department. Even though the name of the fire department has changed, we have not changed the URL for this website. (That may change in the future.)

The Wedgeport & District Fire Department was formed in September of 2003 and is located on the Black Pond Road, in the village of Upper Wedgeport, located in Yarmouth County, on the Southwestern tip of Nova Scotia (Canada). The department covers the areas of Wedgeport, Upper Wedgeport, Lower Wedgeport, Plymouth, Comeau's Hill and Little River Harbour with 2 pumper/tankers, 2 tankers, and an equipment van. We currently have 28 volunteers which are trained to assist at the scene of an emergency.

The Wedgeport & District Fire Department isn't a terribly busy department. Most of our calls are for chimney fires. On occasion we'll have a serious structure fire, or serious auto accident. We don't have the jaws of life at our department, because the closest is about a 20 minute drive, at normal highway speed. We aren't registered as a fire department that responds to medical calls (since we don't have an ambulance) but on occasion we'll get called to assist with a medical call. (Usually only the really serious stuff, like Cardiac Arrest.)
