| John Tripp and I went up to Gilmans mill [ on a bear hunt ], the |
| first time that either one of us was ever there we did not kill |
| any thing, it is a very rough country. |

| The first snow of the season. I went out and killed a big buck. |
| ?? in back of Buck skin coat. |
| Monday, October 28, 1889 |
| Mother went to Aitken to see Hilda. This is the farthest she |
| has been away from home since she come to this country 20 |
| years ago. |
| Saturday, November 02, 1889 |
| Mary and I went down to Adams to a dance. We had a good |
| time. |
| Sunday, November 03, 1889 |
| I went home with ?? Orey Hurt from the dance. The girls were |
| at home. Lizzie and Rhoda give me a shipping because it is |
| my birthday. 23rd. Lizzie got their horse and buggy and took |
| me home and then I went back with her and took Hurts team |
| and we drove to St. Cloud with a load of wood. It snowed and |
| blowed and we almost froze. I came home on Monday with |
| the team and stayed all night at Hurts. The girl that went with |
| us to town was Miss Bogart. |
