I went to St. Cloud and Mary and Lizzie Warner went up to
Sauk Rapids to get examined for school teachers. Sunday
night Mary, Lizzie & I went to church and Lizzie slighted me
going home. I did not think she was that kind of a girl. but it
takes time to find everyone out.

I went over to Edwards this afternoon and found Etta alone.
We had all afternoon to ourselves. She told me all her
troubles. I feel sorry for her and told her so. She let me hug
and kiss her all I wanted to. She has always been a very shy
and modest before that it rather surprised me. But she is a
good girl and I wish I was in the ??situation, I would take her
away from that before another month. She will make some
one a good wife, and maybe it will be me.

I went over to see Etta. but she had gone to Princeton??. I
was sorry it seems that when ever I begin to think any thing of
a girl something happens to part us.

I went down to see Lizzie Hurt [ my old standby - we would
quarrel but when I had no other place to go I would go see her
and I was always welcome but sometimes she had other
fellas ] We went to Sunday school and had a very nice time. I
stayed until 5 o'clock P.M. I don't expect to see her for a long
time.
