I commenced to work for Noah Adoms at Ground House

Minn. for $26.00 per month.

Wednesday, April 30, 1890

I went down home, found the folks all well, went up to see the

Doctor.

Saturday, May 17, 1890

I went home and it snowed six inches, and stayed on all day

Sunday. I got a gold watch, this is the first new watch I ever

owned. Mrs. Check on the train

Friday, May 23, 1890

I visited our school yesterday and today. I went down and

visited Lizzie Hurts school and stayed all night. I didn't have a

good time as there was another girl there so I did not get to

sit up with Lizzie.

Sunday, June 01, 1890

I quit work at Ground House yesterday. When I got home I

found a letter form Jennie Pearson and "Belle's" picture. Oh!

how glad I was to get it. How little she thought when she

promised it to me that it would be six years and that she

would be in her grave almost a year before I would get it alas!

how little either of us knew how different our lives were to run.

at that time we imagined that they were to run together for

ever.
