Alimentation

Alimentation

I've recently discovered the "people" on this planet sit at tables about three times a day and have these long conversations while shoveling stuff into their mouths with beautiful, shiny metal tools! It looked like so much fun, so I indicated to Mommy that I wanted to get involved, too. So she and Daddy put me in my special seat that makes me as tall as everyone else, and then Mommy told me to open my mouth, and I did, and it was the most incredible sensation on my tongue! It was soft and thick and stuck to the sides and top of my mouth. At first I didn't know if I liked it or not; it had such a strange taste! Mommy put some of the same stuff in her mouth, and Daddy did too. They really thought it was fantastic! It didn't taste anything like Mommy's milk. But after six months of the same thing every day, I decided that a change wasn't so bad after all. So I took a gulp and it all went sliding down my throat and left my mouth all empty. And Mommy said, "Was that good? You like bananas, don't you?" And I smiled and opened my mouth for more.

Since then I've tried avocados, peaches, nectarines, carrots, pumpkins, squash, zucchini, spinach, pears, apples, pea purée, apricots (yum!), bread (double yum!), chicken, and fish. And you know what? I love it all! They grow some pretty good stuff here on this planet.

And I've discovered that the best place to try new food is at a table outside where you can see where it might have been growing on the plants and trees.

I still like Mommy's milk sometimes when I get hungry. But mostly, I like it because it only comes from Mommy.
