SLEEP

Sleep, a necessary part of life on this planet, is a sort of journey we have to take. It often happens when we aren't expecting it, and suddenly I feel like I'm in another world which can make me laugh and cry out loud. Sometimes, especially in the evenings, I can feel this powerful sleep coming to whisk me away on its journey, and it makes me afraid because I can never know where it will take me. It can also be very frustrating because it can call me just when I'm in the middle of learning something new or having a good time playing with Mommy or Daddy. When that happens, usually someone helps me by reassuring me that the sleep will take me to interesting and beautiful places (called "dreams") and that I won't go there alone. And you know, they're right. Most of the time, sleep makes me feel very peaceful and calm.

Sometimes the sleep is very short, called a "nap," and this happens frequently just after nursing on the nursing pillow. The nap only lasts about five minutes, but it's all I need.

I have also fallen asleep in the park, but that was only for a few minutes, too.

There is a special place designed for keeping astronauts during their sleep. It's called a crib. I've tried it out a couple of times.....

.....but I have to admit, it's not the best way to sleep, because even if I go into the journey with someone else, I still come back ("wake up," as it's called) all alone. I prefer taking the entire voyage with someone else.
