Hello Elizabeth .
I have just done a ‘google’ on Joseph KILFOYLE, as I have (2) Hannah SAMUELS in my tree as well as a Joseph KILFOYLE.
I wonder if you have more on your Hannah SAMUELS and where she came from, as my maternal g-grandmother was Blanche SAMUELS, d.o. James C SAMUELS and Matilda Ellen REDGRAVE.
My g-grandmother Blanche had an Aunty named Hannah SAMUELS (1832-1905) who married Joseph KILFOYLE (1824-1889) in 1849 in Talbot , Victoria – (well I think these people are part of my Hannah & Joseph tree).
Hannah & Blanche’s grandmother – another Hannah SAMUELS (nee HUTCHINGS/HUTCHINS/HUTCHENS) was a convict who married ‘at least’ twice – firstly to Thomas BENSON in 1826 (another convict who died in a Lunatic Asylum in 1832), and then again to Henry SAMUELS in 1836.
Henry SAMUELS b: c. 1804 BIRKSHIRE & Hannah HUTCHINGS/HUTCHENS/HUTCHINS b: c. 1808/1810 ISLINGTON, LONDON .
Henry came out on a ship called “Prince of Orange” in 1821. Hannah came out on a ship called “Brothers”, which landed in Sydney in 1824. Thomas BENSON came out on a ship named “Ocean II” into Sydney in 1823. He (Thomas) applied to marry Hannah in 1826.

That puts James C Samuels as a brother of Hannah who could be a daughter of Hannah Hutchins the convict wed 1826 to Thomas Benton
They had christened Mary A Benton 1827 and William Benton 1829 died 1831, then surname changed -
Sarah Ann Benson christened 1831. You are suggesting she was called Ann or Hannah.
Thomas Benson died 1832 aged 35
Then Hannah Benson wed 1836 to Henry SAMUELS
There are 3 Samuels infants for Henry and Hannah - Louisa Samuels 1837, Henry W Samuels 1840, James C Samuels 1842
