where to play!
Burn
600 calories an hour playing racquetball... well that's just a side benefit
of playing... Join us in some fun competitive games of racquetball.
|
| Most people are pretty familiar with the game of racquetball, but we've included some links on this page and will add more as this page gets updated. If you are already an avid racquetball player then you already know what fun it is to play. If not then it's a great sport to 'cross train' in. You develop hand/eye coordination and generally learn to be quick on your feet. |
This is a fast paced game and it is not advisable
to play without protective goggles..
It's
great to have your own racket and goggles, that way you become familiar with
your own equipment. A decent racket and goggles can last many seasons
if well cared for. If you don't have your own equipment, then rackets
can usually be borrowed from a friend. We usually have extra rackets
with us... But we hope you will have played enough to have your own
equipment.. |
If you are just starting out, then it is advisable
to try to get to the practice court as much as possible.. To become familiar
with the ball and the walls. I don't think there are any lessons available
in Pensacola anymore, so you will basically have to learn on your own. Try
to find someone to play who is a little better than you are, so you can improve
your skills. Don't be discouraged as with any new activity it takes
a little time to become more proficient in this game. It will be worth
the investment. The best thing is to play at least a few times a week
and try to get some pointers from the more experienced players in town..
In no time you will be surprised at how much you have progressed. Wearing
a glove
can also aid your game, by allowing a tighter
"no slip" grip on your racket...Consider getting one.
some racquetball sneakers
may also help with the lateral movements on the racquetball court... although
any good tennis or cross trainer sneakers may work also. Just don't
use running or walking shoes as they may not have the lateral support you
definitely need in this sport... |
We are on the racquetball courts every Monday and
Thursday from 7-9pm so feel free to come on by and join us in some
Wallyball or racquetball!
