Oct 2006: Wallyball has not been played in an organized fashion at the Downtown YMCA for some time.  We are sorry for the misinformation.   The University of West Florida may be the best bet for games..  Please call ahead to check on the availability of courts and equipment..  Wallyball is a great way to keep in shape. If you have been looking for something different to do to compliment or start a new workout program, then Wallyball may be just the thing.  It is something like "volleyball" inside a racketball court, but that's when the similarities end.

Wallyball can be a pretty fast paced game played with a 'softer ball' than what is used in volleyball.  The best thing is that you don't worry about the wind, rain, cold or heat.  So this is a game you can play year round!  The trick is you can play off the walls, so more angles are involved and the ball can spin away from you unexpectedly and there lies the fun in the game.  You can't try to "power" the ball at your opponent, because then you will probably  either hit 'two walls' or the back wall, which is out of bounds...

No equipment is needed by you just show up with some good tennis or cross-training type sneakers on and you are ready to play.. Running or thin soled sneakers are not advisable...as you want good lateral traction to play.
