"Boys study, girls know,
That's the way that lessons go.
Boys learn, girls forget,
That's the way of lessons yet.
Gillikinese are sharp as knives,
Munchkinlanders lead corny lives,
Glikkuns beat their ugly wives,
Winkes swarm in sticky hives.
But the Quadlings, oh the Quadlings,
Slimy, stupid, curse-at-godlings,
Eat their young, and bury their old,
A day before their bodies get cold.
Give me an apple and I'll say it again."
--Nanny,
Wicked, page 53

Religion
In Wicked, the book, Gregory McGuire created a religion - well, not really created - called Unionist, which is essentially Christianity. It holds the belief in one god, called the Unnamed God. The people who served the Unnamed God were Ministers, who are religious men allowed to marry. In the book, Frex wasn't the Emanant Thropp, he was a minister. There are many unionist saints, including Saint Glinda, Saint Aelphaba, etcetera. Lurlinemas is like Christmas, from my understanding.
Lurlinists are pagans, and although Lurline is celebrated on Lurlinemas by Unionists, she's the fairy queen that pagans believed made Oz.
There is also the Pleasure Faith, based on the tails of the Kumbric Witch. It's, for lack of a better term, hyped-up sex.

The Yellow Brick Road and where it leads
from Wicked by Gregory Maguire
from Tictok of Oz by L. Frank Baum

The Yellow Brick Road starts at Shiz, goes to the Emerald City, and veers off near the Pipe Barrens, and you can either go South to Qhoyre by going through the Quadling Kells, or East through the Corn Basket to Center Munch.

The North
The North is called Gillikin, and also incorperates The Glikkus. The Glikkus is where all the emerald mines are, and many Quadlings are now being shipped North to mine emeralds because the ruby mines are dry. The natural features are The Great Gillikin Forest, The Pertha Hills, Lake Chorge,Mount Runcible, Gillikin River, The Glikkus Canals, The Scalps, and - to the south - The Madeleines.
The towns of Gillikin and The Glikkus are Frottica, Wittica, Settica, Wiccasand Turning, Red Sand, Dixxi House, Tenniken, Brox Hall, Neverdale, the Upplands, and Traum.
Glikkus also holds The Emerald City and Shiz University.

The East
The East is called Munchkinland, and is where all the crops are harvested for the rest of Oz. The natural features of the Eastern lands are Mossmere, Munchkin River, Wend Fallows, The Gloth Hills, Illswater, and Nest Fallows.
The towns of Munchkinland are Upper Applerue, Far Applerue, Dragon Cupboard, Colwen Grounds, The Corn Basket, The pine Barrens, Restwater, Old Pastoria, Nest Hardings, Linster, Wend Hardings, Stonespar End, Rush Margins, Broad Slope Town, Three Dead Trees, and Bright Lettins.

The South
The south is the Quadling Country. It is almost entirely marshlands, and the marshes used to be full of rubies, however they have been mined nearly out. The natural features of the Quadling Country are the Quadling Kells and the Quadling Marshes.
The only towns in the Quadling Country are Qhoyre and Ovvels, because most of the Quadlings live in small family villages near the mines they work in.

The West
The west is the Vinkus, also called - scathingly - Winkie Country by the rest of Oz. The people of this land are sorted into three tribes; the Scrow, the Arjiki, and the Yunamata. The natural features of the Vinkus are The Outer Vinkus, The Sour Sands, Kumbricia's Pass, Kellswater, The Thursk Desert, The Lesser Kells, The Great Kells, The Vinkus River, and the Thousand Year Grasslands.
The only true town in the Vinkus is Kvon Altar. Kiamo Ko, a large castle, stands at the edge of the Vinkus River with the Thousand Year Grassland at its back, the Great Kells at both sides, and can only be reached by going around the Great Kells through Kumbricia's Pass. The Yunamata live near Kellswater, the Scrow live near the center of the Vinkus River, and the Arjiki live around Kiamo Ko.

Around Oz
To the southwest of Oz is the desert that leads to Ev. In the northeast is the desert that leads to Quox. To the northwest is the desert that leads to Fliaan. Also in the northwest is Ugabu - territory that is being fought over by Oz and the Vinkus. The Ugabu is where the Witch Hunters and the Gale Force are entering the Vinkus, in a small pass between the Greater Kells and the Thursk Desert.
