| First Test King Jonathon has decreed that girls can become knights, that is, if they have the courage to try to in the first place. This series takes us thru the knight becoming journey of the first girl to test the new system. All Keladry asked for was a equal chance, instead she was handicapped with a probatitioner year. The training master, Lord Wyldon, oh hail ye stick in the mud, aka Stump, has the decision on whether to let Kel stay on or go off. When Kel enters, a reluctant Neal becomes her sponser. She has no friends, is nicknamed “Lump” and the worst thing is that Lord Wyldon discovers her greatest fear – heights. When she witnesses some senior pages bullying the newbies, she is faced with either ignoring it and let injustice be done, or defying convention and do what no page has done before… Page Yup, you guessed it. Kel is allowed to stay on. She continues her life at the palace as a page. Yup, you guessed it, the hazing thing has not given up yet. This stage of her quest for knighthood is fraught with difficulties. She has to face her growing body, Neal’s endless stream of crushes, a weird acting Cleon, a crush =), a maid who goes faint when she picks up a weapon, how to convince Lord Wyldon that Jump (a dog) is NOT her pet though it PERSISTS in following her around. Just when she reaches her big examinations, she thinks things MIGHT go right this time, but unfortunately, kidnappers on the sidelines are NOT going to let it be that way.
