| Alanna, the first Adventure Have you read/watched “Mu Lan” and “Prince and the Pauper” before? Well, the story is a sort of combination of that, with a medieval twist. Twins Alanna and Thom are being sent off by their father to their respective schools. Alanna doesn’t want to go to the convent to learn to be a lady and Thom doesn’t want to be a knight. A bit of forgery and persuasion here and there. TA DA! They switch places discreetly with only Maude and Coram in their confidence. Alanna disguises herself to be a boy to become a knight and Thom, lucky him, stays a boy and tries to become a mage. Alanna meets with the charming Prince Jonathon and his friends, and is quickly taken into their circle of friends. Unfortunately, she makes enemies with a boy who relentlessly bullies her. Will she ever get that irritating twerp to stop? She meets Prince Jonathon’s cousin, Roger, who is more than he seems… She encounters the King of Rogue, George Cooper who helps and encourages her in his own special ways… She also gets invited to Sir Myles’ (her teacher) keep and discovers something mysterious… She tags along with Prince Jonathon and co. on an excursion to the Bazhir desert. There, Prince Jonathon and her tumble into a whole lot of trouble when Jon decides to investigate the ruins of a city. There, they discover something evil… Can they get out of the scrape alive and in one piece? In The Hand Of the Goddess Alanna meets a mysterious lady in the forest and gets a pet who has more in common with her than her stubbornness… Alanna is challenged by a Tusiane knight, who is much bigger than her… Will she accept the challenge? Will she get out in one piece IF she fights him? For the bloodthirsty, a war between Tuisane and Tortall should satisfy you. Alanna gets captured and taken into enemy camp. Problem is, nobody can rescue her as the King has threatened to behead anyone who crosses the river to go to the enemy camp… Alanna gets some unwarranted attention from Roger, George and Prince Jonathon in various ways. Of course, Alanna earns her shield and reveals her true identity in a very unusual way… The Woman Who Rides Like A Man Yup, no need to ask who is the woman the title is referring to. Alanna goes around Tortall, visiting, rescuing, and helping people along the way. Prince Jonathon finds her and presents her with a proposal… Will George be out of the picture?!?! Well, don’t fret, as Alanna drops by George’s humble abode to say more than “hi!” Lioness Rampant Dumb ass brother, Thom, reincarnates Alanna’s archenemy. King Roald “tiao low zi sa” (as Sparrow puts it) or in other words, commits suicide. Prince Jonathon, I mean King Jonathon is made the reluctant ruler with treason, rebellion and betrayal on his hands. Alanna, as usual, decides to help her friend by going to the “Roof of the World” and brings back with her MORE than just a magical jewel to help King J to be a powerful ruler… Of course, the eminent question on everyone’s mind, whom will Alanna end up with? A final battle resulting in love and death... Oh come on, don’t you want to know who survives and who ends up with whom? |
