Weapon Restrictions

There are only some weapons that elves would use. This is a list of all of the weapons that you will be allowed to use.

Large Medium Small
Executioners Axe Axe Dagger
Cresecent Blade Katanna Butchers Knife
Bow Kryss
Composite Bow Warfork
Spear
Short Spear
Bladed Staff
Double Bladed Staff
Pike

In reality a person would only be able to carry so many weapons at a time. In light of this we have created a list of how many weapons each person would be able to carry. Weapons are split into three groups; large, medium and small. The standard assortment of weapons you will be allowed to carry is 1 large weapon, 2 medium and 3 small. But there are exceptions to this. They are as follows.

1 large weapon = 2 medium or 4 small

1 medium weapon = 2 small.

So it is possible to leave your large weapon and take more smaller weapons in it's place. But you can not leave smaller weapons and take larger ones in their place.

Coloured Weapons and Weapon Proficiencies

Intro: The concept behind this plan is to add diversity and realism to elves choice of weaponry in combat, to add an extra layer of realism and personality to the Wildwood Elves. In current state every GM Warrior is of equal skill with every weapon in his chosen class, be it a swordsmen they can wield a Halberd with exactly the same skill as a long sword. Something that is somewhat unrealistic, as swordplay and pole arms are hardly similar traits, also equally a mercenary can one day pick up a katana and wield it with exactly the same skill as that of a samurai who’s trained his entire life in the art of the weapon. The system will reward those who want to theme their characters combat around a certain trade mark weapon which he/she is renowned as being deadly with and punish those who want to be able to wield everything under the sun. How can we put a difference between these members you ask without putting in any major unbalancing points, simple we use the coloured weapons to represent skill and experience with a weapon rather than the quality of the weapon.

How it works: The tribe will be split into 4 groups. Each group will have a certain amount of “Proficiency Points” to spend on their chosen weapons of war, the more put into a single weapon the better they will be with it and hence the higher band of coloured weapon they will be able to use. An elite status member who applies all his points to a single weapon would be considered an awesome fighter with the weapon, feared and respected for their skill but at the same time would be fairly average with every other weapon. Where as someone who divided their points between two or three weapons would be better than the norm with them yet not amazing.

These groups will be as follows:

Untrained: These are elves that have no knowledge in wielding a weapon, they lack any flair with a weapon and can often been seen opting for more natural weapon chosen by the elves the bow.

Mellon are to be considered untrained

Rookies: Youths and Unseasoned tribal members, not a costumed to combat or death they may well be sturdy fighters but are certainly far from the best. They lack the flair, creative and deadly edge of the seasoned fighters and have not yet mastered their chosen weapon of war. This group will also include any non-combat members of a guild, as they are indeed rookies to combat. Rookies would have a SINGLE proficiency point to represent their past. This will allow rookie characters to add a basic bit of theme to their character by their chosen weapon and stop them feeling left out of the system.

Astalders are to be considered rookies

Seasoned: Grim, experienced and a common visitor to the battlefields of Yew, Seasoned members know how to kill and do it without hesitation, they’ve learned their lessons of war though the sound of steel on steel and have learned the lessons well. Picking up skills with the weapons they’ve used to survive they are a firm step above rookies. Seasoned members will have three points of weapon proficiency to spend, this should hopefully add a large gap between Rookies and Seasoned Members in terms of how good they could possibly be with a weapon.

Voronwer and Hodoer are considered to be seasoned

Elite: The Crème Della Crème of warriors in Yew, each a match for several enemies alone they wield their weapons in a manner which brings much awe from all who watch. On the field of battle their skill is shown by the carnage they create, cutting sways though enemies with skills honed over years of battle, they are rare but they are indeed potent. Elite members will have six points of proficiency this should allow them to become an expert with a single weapon or well drilled in a small selection.

Yaaraer are considered to be elite

Ranks: This is something that needs work and at the time of writing I am no expert on how the coloured weapons tier in “real” effect, for example gold could be higher yet still worse than bronze I’m not entirely sure. Either way they will be put into tiers by the level of how good they are in PvP terms. Each level will cost one proficiency point (points can be changed its all rather rough at the moment). But something I would like to stress people being experts in a weapon should be rare so we don’t want to hand out to many points.

Management: A forum will be opened for every member where they will be able to post their selections. If a member does not post their thread they are simply not allowed to use any coloured weaponry regardless of their rank. Using weapons your not proficient with will be regardless no less than using a magic weapon and punishment dealt out accordingly. A person may change their profiency with a weapon but only after a one month period with their selected template, and then they can only move up 1 rank. After the month period has passed they may re allocate two point to another weapon if they choose.

NOTE: All entries will be dated so that the Council can keep track.

Weapon Proficiencies

Elves skills with weapons varies greatly within the Tribe, therefore it is broken into 4 groups

Untrained: - Mellon [0pts]

Rookies: - Astalder [2pts]

Seasoned: - Voronwer [3pts]

Seasoned: - Hodoer [4pts]

Elite: - Yaaraer [6pts]

- All Elves may wield any weapon available them in Iron

The system is designed to add an extra layer of depth to Wildwood Elves characters by allowing you to decide on your characters favored weapon and actually being better than other Elves with that weapon. The IC thinking behind it is that characters that use one weapon a lot will become extremely familiar with it and hence will have an advantage over those who use a whole range of weapons, and so in this system you can reflect this on your character. Is he a master of the long sword with few piers? Or more flexible and skilled with a few weapons although not to quite as high a level?

Each of the Ores represents a level of Proficiency with a weapon, in this order: -

- Rank 1: Shadow
You are familiar with the weapon and are better than the norm with it but you’re far from a master.
- Rank 2: Bronze
You are quite skilled with the weapon and are beginning to feel attached to it.
- Rank 3: Agipite
Your favorite weapon of choice, it’s seen you though many grim encounters.
- Rank 4: Verite
Your trademark weapon, others know of you by the grim carnage you bring with this weapon.
- Rank 5 Valorite
Your skill with this weapon is renowned and feared; it would be rare for it to leave your side.

Elves wishing to increase his skill with a weapon may do so if they are at the relevant rank and have points spare, to do so they must go to the Elves Weapon Proficiency Forum and post a new thread using the following format.

The thread title must be the Elves name and in the thread the following details must be included, failure to complete the thread properly with class it invalid and you will not be able to use your colored weapons until it is corrected by an admin.

Example:

Elves Name: Af’rilm
Trust Level: Yaaraer
Date Edited: 02/9/04

Weapon: Axe – Shadow [1pt]
Weapon: Katana – Valorite [5pts]

There must be a period of one month before adding a new proficiency point to a weapon. This is to give the impression of gradual advancement in a weapon rather than an Elf moving instantly from been fairly skilled with a weapon to been a master with it. Elves found using weapons of a higher ore than listed in their thread will be punished harshly as if they broke any other guild rule. Excuses will not be accepted, if what you use does not match what is in your thread on the forums then you are breaking the rules.
