Dear Parents and Students,

Thank you for your interest in William Li & Associates Tutoring Services.

My name is William Li, and I have just finished my four years of high school at Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School in Mississauga.

This venture seeks to assist students in high-school mathematics and science concepts. This is valuable for math or science in summer school, for preparing for next year, or to shore up on key concepts from previous courses. Services will be offered at the Mississauga Central Library at a pre-arranged, convenient time.

In choosing a tutor to help you or your son or daughter, you've got quite a few choices. This, I believe, is where I stand out. As a recently graduated high-school student, I have experienced - and succeeded in - the challenge of doing well academically despite all of the other pressures of high school. I took a full slate of 8 courses in Grade 12, will an average well into the high 90s.

Along with academics, I believe that it is important to have a balance of other activities as well. Currently, I am Chairperson of the Mayor's Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) of Mississauga, a youth organization of more than 100 members that plans community projects and voices the views of young people to our government representatives. I also chaired the Mississauga Youth Week 2004 Organizing Committee, which executed a weeklong festival in May that celebrated the spirit of volunteerism, recognized the achievements of youth, and developed the leaders of tomorrow. This year, I received the National Excellence Scholarship from the Millennium Scholarship Foundation, the agency's highest honour, for my extra-curricular and volunteer involvement.

In short, I believe that I know what it takes to succeed in high school. In schoolwork, it is important to understand, not just memorize, concepts, and this is where a tutor can help. As a tutor, I offer the following:
- individual attention: all sessions are oone-to-one; strong students can accelerate and explore advanced concepts in detail, while students who are still developing their mathematics potential will soon find themselves on the fast track to excellence
- a student's perspective: having taken hiigh school courses relatively recently, along with explaining a concept, I can communicate how I learned it effectively
- new-curriculum experience: few other tuttors have actually completed the new, rigourous four-year high-school curriculum; I am part of the second wave of students that has done so
- mentorship: a tutor must also be a role model for students; I believe that my success in academic and other endeavours makes me a worthy candidate

In twelve hours of one-to-one tutoring over four weeks, you can reinforce concepts learned in summer school, review concepts learned in a previous math course, or work at your own pace through new course material. Other tutoring plans can also be designed to meet your needs.
