December 1997: Traffic
I
really hate it when traffic is stopped or disrupted just to allow a government
official's motorcade to pass through. It makes me mad to see a government official smoothly zooming
through traffic in his/her air-conditioned luxury automobile while hundreds
of other motorists are forced to wait in their cars. I mean, are not government
officials the servant of the people ? Then why are one or two government
officials in their cars given more priority than the hundreds of other
motorists in the streets ? The way it's going it seems to me that we,
the tax payers and voters, are becoming the slaves of the very people
who should serve us, the public officials. I think that these officials
should also experience the agony of being stuck in traffic like the rest
of us. Besides, the only way they will be motivated to do something about
the traffic menace is that if they themselves experience it.
