     WHAT IS 4-H?    

 

4-H is an informal youth educational program for children 5 - 19 years of age.

 

How does 4-H benefit youth?

There are many benefits to youths who become involved in 4-H.  

Some of those benefits are:

  • Builds self confidence
  • Hands on learning
  • Development of life-skills
  • Learn to interact in a positive way with people of all ages
  • Set and achieve goals
  • Learn responsibility
  • Awards for work well done
  • Builds leadership ability
  • Scholarship and grant opportunities
  • Offers many ways to become involved in the community
  • Offers a wide variety of educational topics or "projects".  
  • Opportunities to exhibit completed projects.
  • Many events and activities such as picnics, barbeques, fairs, summer camps, exhibit days, and others!
  • Informal ways to learn and have fun at the same time.  
  • Learn and become comfortable with public speaking.
  • The skill required for 4-H allow many youth who do not do well in academics, excel in 4-H. 
  • Parental involvement is encouraged and many parents devote a lot of there own time to volunteer as 4-H project leaders or other volunteers.
  • 4-H welcomes all youth, regardless of race, color, religion, or disability.
