As a follow-up to Miles Meyers' presentation at the May council meeting, parish committees were asked to work with the Pastoral team if they have items they would like to work on with the schools. School principals and the pastoral team will meet in September to discuss proposals and make plans for the 2003-04 year.
Plans for the Year-end Barbecue and the Parish Feast Day were finalized. These are important events in the life of the community and we encourage everyone to be part of the celebrations.
The request from the Social Action Committee for $600 from the Legacy Fund to assist with needs in the community was approved.
Topic suggestions for the Pastoral Council Retreat in September include youth, education, communication, and support of priests in their ministry. A committee was formed to finalize plans for the retreat. Interested parishioners are welcome to join council for the retreat on Sat. Sept. 6 at the John Paul II Centre. Call the office for details.
The 2003-04 Calendar of parish activities was reviewed. To add items to the calendar, contact the office as soon as possible. The Ministry Sign-up form to be used in Sept. has been revised to include brief job descriptions. Council members were asked to provide any suggestions for improvement to the office before the end of June. The Annual Stewardship Awareness Campaign will run again in September with Ministry sign-up taking place on Sept. 13-14 and 20-21. New schedules will go into effect on the 1st Sunday of October.
Council prayer intentions for the summer are June: Graduating students; July: safe summer, August: finding Youth Group leaders. We invite you to join us in prayer for the parish and its needs.
