![]() Mouton Rothschild-1994 The wine has a fine colour with garnet highlights and a well-developed bouquet with hints of vanilla and toast and slightly minty, smoky aromas. Pleasant and harmonious in the mouth, it leaves a distinct impression of balance between flavour and well-integrated tannins which evolve gently towards delicate oak. The finish is full of charm and elegance, reflecting an already highly expressive vintage. | ![]() Mouton Rothschild-1995 So great is the concentration of pigments that the colour remains dense and deep, barely displaying a hint of garnet red to confirm that the wine is maturing well. The bouquet displays lingering suggestions of black cherry, bilberry and blackberry, combined with more complex aromas of moss and truffle and a smoky trace of elegant oak. From a powerful attack, the wine fills out on excellent tannins, rich and very dense, showing well-developed flavours with notes of vanilla, toast and liquorice. All the richness of this powerful wine is displayed in a full, generous finish. |
![]() Mouton Rothschild-1996 The wine has a lovely deep, dense colour and an elegant, highly complex bouquet in which wild berry aromas (blackcurrant and blackberry) combine with notes of smoke and toast. From an attack that is both full and silky, the dual flavours are expressed over powerful but well-rounded tannins and an explosion of aromas, all combining to give the wine the stature of a great Mouton Rothschild. |
![]() Mouton Rothschild-1997The wine has a fine, deep red colour. The nose displays notes of spice, together with vanilla, cinnamon and toast aromas and a strong suggestion of blackcurrant, blackberry and liquorice. These berry fruit flavours are again to the fore in the mouth, sustained by elegant, well-rounded tannins. The finish, rich, round and pleasantly full, combines hints of oak with notes of spice and toast. | ![]() Mouton Rothschild-1998Beautiful colour, darkly glinting, deep and dense. The bouquet, distinguished and somewhat reserved, displays a harmonious blend of smoky aromas, vanilla and blackcurrant. The attack combines elegant strength with gentle notes of ripe fruit and well-rounded tannins. Initially creamy and lush, the body masks very considerable power that is revealed in a long, lingering and well-balanced finish on suggestions of red berry fruit, blackberry, and blackcurrant. A very fine wine whose size already suggests the full measure of future delights. | ![]() Mouton Rothschild-1999The wine has a fine colour, dense and deep. And a nose of blackcurrant, liquorice, violet and spice, together with suggestions of roast coffee, toast and vanilla. The tannins are creamy but well-forward, nicely balanced with well-integrated preserved fruit, caramel and coffee flavours. The finish, long, powerful and substantial, is only just beginning to reveal its full richness. |
