Opus One-1998
Supple and lush, the 1998 Opus One shows an opaque purple color and intense aromas of blackberries,
vanilla, roasted espresso and caramel. The wine offers a resilient middle body, with seamless texture,
sweet tannins, and a long, persistent finish. | ![]()
Opus One-1997
Abundant sunlight in the previous vintage produced high fertility in the vine buds and a large crop,
which Opus One thinned to the lowest per-acre yield in a decade. Harvest was early and very compact,
comprising just 11 days. The wines promise to combine vigor with finesse. |

Opus One-1996
Spring rains in 1996 led to a decrease in vineyard yields,
particularly in the Merlot and Malbec grape varieties.The cool spring was followed by a very warm
summer and a short, compact harvest. Showing hints of violets and mint on the nose,
this wine is at once plush and firmly structured. |

Good weather led to normal bud break and excellent growing conditions throughout the spring.
Mid-summer brought dry warm weather with some hot days, accelerating the growth cycle.

Seventeen inches of rain in March ended the prospect of a fifth consecutive drought year.
The growing season was extremely long and cool, producing a large crop.
During ideal warm and dry weather, Harvest began late,
yielding wines with deep layers of fruit and a sweet middle-palate. |

Opus One-1990
Slightly cooler-than-normal winter weather led to a late bud break.
Bloom and berry set were affected by cool temperatures and rain in late May,
resulting in a reduced crop. Normal summer temperatures were followed by ideal harvest conditions.
Wines are rich and resilient. |
