We have received the following WIND SPEED CALCULATOR from Mike Duggan:

As some of you may recall, my sea diving can be very dependant on the wind, giving me an idea of how choppy the waves are and thus influencing my decision to dive.
In order to have some idea I have been looking at the CHIMET site for the up to date reports but have found the wind speed given in knots. Not being an overly nautical person I find this difficult to relate to wind speeds that I know. The weather forecasts can also be slightly confusing in that they give wind speeds in numbers or Beaufort scale force.
This table should help towards un-confusing most people as I have given the wind speeds in knots (nautical miles per hour), miles per hour and the Beaufort scale. Hope this is of some use to Club Members. Mike Duggan (submitted 16 Sep 01)

DIVE TIMES FOR SELSEY LIFEBOAT (2004).
Mike Duggan spent considerable time working out the Suitable Diving Days and Times for DIVING AT SELSEY during 2001, 2002 & 2003. He has UPDATED the table covering the months for the complete Year of 2004. This 2004 UPDATED information can be viewed at the link below.
LINK TO MIKES'S DIVE TIME FOR YEAR 2004 .

The spreadsheet is only an aid to help you in determining when to dive at Selsey. Remember, it is up to YOU to check out the tide times yourself and you can look up your own tide tables to determine if the dives are on Springs or on Neaps. Remember that all important basic dive training you did which is PLAN YOUR DIVE, DIVE YOUR PLAN & DIVE SAFELY.

Plan Your Dive and Dive Your Plan.

Safe and Happy Diving.
