Lumphanan
June 17, 2000
After four castles and a flock of birds, we were glad to spend the night in Lumphanan at the Mapleview Bed & Breakfast. We had a bite to eat up the road at the Crossroads Hotel where I saw an interestingly named bottle behind the bar. So, I asked the bartender if the Wallace Whiskey Liqueur was any good, and he suggested I give it a try. So I ordered one just as a local came up and noted, "it's crrrrap, just a cheap Drambuie." Obviously I still had to try it, but I found out he was right. After dinner we saw a pretty sunset and then retired to our room and watched opera on BBC-2 (it was the only thing on other than soccer).

Aparently most guests at Mapleview do not listen to opera because the owners came to the door to check on us -- I guess they heard the fat lady singing and thought some sort of foul play was occurring. We assured them we were fine and went back to bed.
