Glamis was interesting both because it is an amazing treasure house and because it is still a family home to the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghome. In fact, we saw the Earl having a drink in his garden while watching the crowds. Among the historic relics and artwork are family mementoes and knick-knacks. Of course, when you are the relatives of the Queen Mother (she was born at Glamis), your knick-knacks are a little fancier than the average Joe's. Shakespeare also mentions Glamis in Macbeth, but as in the case of Cawdor Castle, there is no historic link between Macbeth and the castle. |
