Glamis Castle
June 18, 2000
Glamis was interesting both because it is an amazing treasure house and because it is still a family home to the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghome. In fact, we saw the Earl having a drink in his garden while watching the crowds.

Among the historic relics and artwork are family mementoes and knick-knacks. Of course, when you are the relatives of the Queen Mother (she was born at Glamis), your knick-knacks are a little fancier than the average Joe's.

Shakespeare also mentions Glamis in Macbeth, but as in the case of Cawdor Castle, there is no historic link between Macbeth and the castle.

Glamis Castle The BBC was filming a 100th birthday tribute to the Queen Mother while we were at Glamis. A huge crowd was bussed in to participate in the filming.
Because all the crowd was in the front of the castle, we were able to walk through the gardens almost alone.Glamis Gardens
