Scone
June 19, 2000
From Glamis, we drove to Scone and spent the night at the Sundial Cottage Bed & Breakfast. The owners, Rodney and Gillian Burr, were very friendly and we spent two hours chatting with them and a couple from Australia after breakfast.
Scone Palace is the historic site were Scottish Kings were crowned on the Stone of Destiny in Scone Abbey. The Stone was taken by King Edward I of England to Westminister in 1296, but the Stone was returned to Scotland in 1996 and is housed in Edinburgh Castle.
Scone Palace Scone is the home of the Earl of Mansfield and is filled with fabulous antique furniture and artwork, including the Vernis Martin papier mache objets d'art. These exquisitely painted, gold covered objects are not like the papier mache you made in school.
Scone is a working cattle farm, and the gardens were filled with peacocks. Sue and a Highland Cow
