A few miles northwest of Doune is Callander, the center of Rob Roy County and the beginning of the Trossachs. Callander has an interactive Rob Roy and Trossachs visitors center which asks, and somewhat answers the question, "Rob Roy, hero or villain?" Our take was Rob was a bit of both. The Trossachs region is very similar in appearance to Northern Virginia and the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's like a mini-Highlands and gave us a taste of the terrain to come. |

Throughout our trip we often saw the shrub on the left, called Broom. It was so common that we came to associate the color yellow with Scotland. On our way North through the Trossachs, we stopped at the Falls of Leny. | |
