She has not had to do steps (but did not seem familiar with them) as I had a ramp from my Czar and Sandy. She will accept kissies now on top of her head, but she was very head shy for a long time and did not like anyone messing with her head and face. I expect the blindness does that.

I just slip her tags in between the double layer (on her collar, or just underneath the top of a regular collar) and tape it in place with the "paper athletic med tape" as it will not leave any residue of "sticky".This prevents tags from getting caught. You could even write on it in pen "TAGS" in case some dummy wound not find them in an emergency.

Bitty was 9 yrs old on 12/19/99 and has been blind about three years. She came to me in Sept. of '98 and had been blind 2 yrs already from PRA. She is in great condition and weighs about 65 lbs. She is a small stature pedigreed Black Lab, and her official name is Borador's Itty Bitty. Borador is one of the older Lab lines and she came from OH by a CUR run directly from her former home. She has the sweetest nature I have ever seen and is so well adjusted. Bitty thinks that everyone who comes has come just to pet her and give her attention, and she gets it! She is so very trusting. She likes her belly scratched, of course, and no matter what her tail never stops waving. She has a wonderful "otter tail", straight and heavy, as you can see in her pic. That is a very desired thing in Labs. She never jumps on anyone and I can't coax her up on the bed or sofa. She also has a nice heavy double coat that is very slick and shiney. Looks like she was polished - tee hee. She never says a word unless someone knocks on the door, then she will bark. I have a ramp from the porch to the yard, just 3 steps down, and she really knows her way around. I swear she has studied English because no matter what I say to her like giving her directions if she get too close to bumping into something outside, she seems to know at once just what I said. It is almost spooky. She loves special treats when I eat cooked chicken breast. She takes things very nicely. I do not feed her people food except for chicken and scrambled egg bits. No sweets, no cookies, just her own treats. She has a great diet of Solid Gold food and all the supplements so she is a very "regular girl" and I can set my watch by when she does her business -- every AM when she gets up and again about 2:30 PM. She never misses. But I have spoiled her because when she came she was not interested in drinking water and it bothered me. So almost at once I added some Northland Cranberry / Cherry 100% juice to the water I offered her every time she came in from peewee and she loved it. There is always water down for her but she waits for her special bowl of juice-water. She get a tiny treat first and then the water and she has gotten so that if she sniffs it and it is not enough juice added to suit her she just looks up and waits til I add more. THEN she will drink it. Apparently it has to be just right to her taste ! She loves kissies on top of her head, altho at first when she arrived she did not like any messing around her head. She likes her snuggle-ball bed altho she flattens it out pretty quick after it is laundered and fluffed up. She rolls over on her back and props her feet against the side of my bed often when she sleeps, as in the pic. It is more upside down than it looks. I do not think she played much before she came, even when sighted. She would remember, wouldn't she? She shows no interest in any toys at all and I have tried everything. But she loves her Nylabone CARROT bones, and knows exactly how to hold it. I have to get the big ones and she can polish it off in less than an hour so I have to take it from her after about 15 min. and give it back every few days. She sure know that word "bone" and did from the first time. When I get new ones she recognizes the sound when I peel the heavy clear plastic cover from one and stands waiting for it. She is so smart about so many things, just right off. She has a pair of Doggles coming to protect her eyes from UV and also from bushes in the yard.

Well it was great meeting you all, and as you can see I now have a great home and love my mom sooooooo much.
