Here are some photos taken during my visit to Thailand in 1998. Here are various shot of the Royal Palace in Bangkok. The palace has an area of 218,400 sq. metres and is surrounded by walls built in 1783. Within these walls are situated government office and Chapel Royal of the Emerald Buddha besides the royal residence. The palace was built by Rama I and it serve not only as his residence but also his offices.

I took a day trip to visit the Damnoen river market. It was pretty neat, but felt too "touristsy" ie I keep having the feeling that the market was built for the tourist.

This is my favourite photo, as you can see the contents of each sampans, and the atmosphere was really buzzing...

... plus they were selling food to you direct from the sampans. Some even have gas onboard to do the cooking with!

I also visited River Kwei for this day trip which is located in the Kanchanaburi province. This is the place where thousands of Allied prisoners lost their lives to the Japanese during the Second World War. Ironicly, most of the tourist with me were Japanese!

At this point we were only 30 miles from the border to Burma. Closer then Bangkok!

It seems pretty isolated huh? Well I took these two photos from a good angle, to avoid the other tourist who were there. Yeah there were quite a few people around, especially around the bridges. But I guess at this time of the day it was also too hot to walk along the bridge. hah!
