"Invest in us and enjoy the legacy"

"Who has the youth, will have the future"

During our recent trip to the World Hockey Festival in Hobart. The youth promoters decided that they would like and felt it was beneficial for World Hockey to form a World Youth Committee who would help in the promotion of youth hockey all around the world.

Aims of the Hockey Youth Committee
- Provide hockey to a wider market.
- Encourage the love for the game among the youth
- Act as ambassadors for hockey and for all aid organiztions supported by the FIH - e.g. Olympic Aid.
- Help with the organization and running of World and National events each year - worldwide marathons such as the ones held this year.
- Increase media coverage worldwide.
- Give the youth a voice to national and international bodies.
- Create friendships between the hockey youth - aim to establish better relationships between countries and continents in the future.
- Work with the FIH in the ways they feel appropriate. Offer our services with any help in which they need, helping by giving a youth view on any hockey issues.

Methods
- Create a youth exchange between countries especialy in the help of equipment supply in developing hockey nations.
- Work with the very young (example set by Pablo Mendoza - Argentina) and encourage the love for the game. No skills of forms of selection necessary, enjoyment and the love of the game would be the aims.
- Organize school - club links enhancing youth standard.
- World hockey weekends similar to what was organized this year. Ideas such as Sandra Frankland's Hockey Extravaganza (Hong Kong) set an incredible role model, all for the promotion of world hockey.
- Introduction of regional/national youth committee for hockey - to discuss regional and national situations.
- Encourage FIH to ask our opinion on youth issues.
- Set up youth committee in nation regions and encourage youth representation on national governing bodies.

All members will be encouraged to set their aims for their particular countries and set up committess. Encourage national associations to have youth members in their board.

Other aims will be those already set in our meeting in Hobart and expressed in the World Hockey Development Plan.
