Illian is located in the south-central part of the Westlands. Near the end of the War of the Hundred Years, Lord Nicoli Merseneos den Ballin captured the city of Illian and created a kingdom of the same name. His family ruled Illian for three hundred years. Illian is the only city of the nation of Illian and is the capital. It is bordered by Altara to the west, Murandy to the north, and the Sea of Storms to the south and east. It is a very large city known for its ports and tanneries. The heart of the city is the Square of Tammaz with the King's Palace on the west end and the Great Hall of the Council on the east end.
The Illian Road leads north from the city and divides into the turns into the Lugard Road which leads to the city of Lugard and another major road that leads to Tear, Emond’s Field, and Caemlyn. The port area, known as the Perfumed Quarter because of its foul odor, is connected to the rest of the city by the Bridge of Flowers. Illian is a pretty city with buildings mainly of pale dressed stone. There are as many canals as streets. There is a warrior and a rogue that do teach things to those willing to look for them, and can be located in the King’s palace. A wandering outdoorsman roams the city, exuberant over this great capital. When one is looking for a place to sleep, the inn, Easing the Badger, is a great place to rest, located in the southwestern part of the city.
Ruling Body
Illian is jointly ruled by a King and a Council of Nine Lords. Our King is Mattin Stepaneos den Balgar. The Council is composed of: Lord Argirin Darelos, Lord Ballin Elamri, Lord Eliris Mancuri, Lord Ershin Netari, Lord Gregorian Panar, Lord Jeordwyn Semaris, Lord Kiril Drapeneos, Lord Marac den Norvin, and Lord Spiron Narettin.
