Theophilus graduated from the University of New Brunswick, at Federiction, New Brunswick, as B.A. in 1886. Employed in lumber business by Andre' " Cushing & Co., Saint John, New Brunswick, 1886 to 1890. Originator and member of the firm of Cushing-Young Shingle Company of Tacoma, Washington, 1890 to 1894. Returned in 1895 to assist his brother George S. Cushing to carry on their father's business in Saint John, New Brunswick, where he was last known to live.
