The wreck today : At a weight of 5409 tons and a length of 134m, the Akka is the largest know diveable wreck in the clyde. She lies 55°56.750'North , 004°54.417'West, which is only about 25 metres north of the port side yellow marker buoy.
She lies upright on the north side of the Dunoon Bank at depths varying from 30m at her stern to 40m at her bow, the deck lies in about 16 to 24m of water. Apart from her size the Akka is made interesting by the large and varied sea life that covers her hull, from anemonae to dead mans fingers, sea squirts, hydroids and a large fish population. Diving the Akka is reasonably easy but there is one major danger that has to be looked out for,the wreck is covered in nylon fishing net.
