Wright Answer is owned and operated by Adam Wright.  Adam graduated from the University of North Texas Library School in 1995 and has since worked in a public, academic and corporate library settings.  He is well versed in Microsoft and web technologies. Examples of Projects. Below are some of the projects that Adam has led, or participated, in his various full time positions as well as some of the websites he has built.

§         Researched and compiled a vertical industry assessment on Government.  My sources for this deliverable included government websites, Lexis-Nexis and Gartner.

§         Project lead for the implementation of the knowledge management infrastructure for the business intelligence department.  This project involved building a document management/content management web application using SQL Server on the data layer.  The business rules layer was written using Javascript and Active Server Pages.  IIS 5.0 on an Advanced Windows 2000 server served as the web server and operating system respectively.  Microsoft Indexing Service was used for the search engine. 

§         Compiled an inventory of all available data, information within the Business Intelligence department.  To this end, I created a VBScript program that took advantage of Software Artisan's SA-FileUp to create a comma-delimited list of files currently owned.  I then imported these lists into some excel spreadsheets that were later used to clean out unused files.

§         Conducted a knowledge management survey to discover what tacit knowledge exists within the Business Intelligence department.

§         Mapped the information flows of the Business Intelligence department to determine what could be improved.  I used the Visio tool to show graphical representation.

§         Designed, developed and supported a web application that served as a yellow pages of information resources for the Business Intelligence Department.  This application was interactive allowing users to maintain and edit listings.  I developed the application using Active Server Pages on a Microsoft IIS 2000 server with a Microsoft Access backend.

§         I supported the Business Intelligence Department’s Intranet page.    In an effort to improve its usability, lead a project team of five people to redesign it.  The prototype put together used Javascript, Active Server Pages and resided on Microsoft 5.0 IIS web server.  The storage layer resided in a Microsoft Access database. 

§         I was directly responsible for the establishment of a document repository for the Business Intelligence Department.  To this end, we have evaluated three options.  First, I have installed Oracle 8I on one machine and the client application on another in a two-tier environment to take advantage of the functionality provided by Oracle's Internet File System and Intermedia Text.  Second, I have designed my own content/document management system using javascript, Active Server Pages and Oracle.  Finally, we have looked into using Interwoven’s Content Management Tool.

§         I was directly responsible for mapping and maintaining the Business Intelligence Industry and Organizational Taxonomy.  To this end, built a web application based on the traditional cataloging thesaurus to assist me in tracking the various taxonomies. 

§         Performed research on Knowledge Management Issues and tools in my effort to establish the Business Intelligence Knowledge Management Infrastructure.  This research involved both primary and secondary sources in digital, hard copy and face-to-face format. 

§         Conducted intensive research for Competitive Analysts.  Conducted ad-hoc secondary research on the competitive arena for the rest of the company. 

§         Assisted the Industry Research Team with ad-hoc information requests dealing with the BMC industry and competitive arena.

§         Lead a project team to create a Thesaurus of BMC Industry Terms to use for cataloging and classification purposes.  In relation to this, I created a web application to maintain the thesaurus that was later used to classify content for the Business Intelligence department. 

§         Member of PM&D Services knowledge management team.   Assisted in the design of a Lessons Learned Application as part of this effort. 

§         Maintained and administered the BMC internal competitive website.  I oversaw the development of a new web application using Documentum as the backend.  I led the migration of the legacy competitive documents to the new Documentum application.

§         Designed and developed a web application for the tracking of BMC development tools.  The web application resided on an NT server using Microsoft IIS 4.0 that I configured for the purpose of the web application.  I used Active Server Pages containing VBScript.  Microsoft Frontpage 98 was the web development tool of choice.  Microsoft Access was the backend database.   

§         Developed, maintained and administrated a website for the Technology Standards department.  I created the website using a BMC web development tool. 

§         Member of web standards committee that established policies and procedures concerning the BMC intranet.

§         Provided reference and readers advisory services that involved daily exposure to a wide variety of online information databases and the Internet.

§         Trained the staff in Microsoft products.   

§         Taught online classes to the public on the Internet and Houston Public Library catalogs and indexes.

§         Troubleshot any technological problems for both staff and patrons. 

§         Coordinated the branch's volunteer program that involves the training, supervision and evaluation of all volunteers.

§         Supervised staff members when appointed Librarian-in-Charge.
