TAGS - Writing Made Excellent!
Workshop
- Writing is an integral
component of today's classroom. This training
incorporates many of the same methods and processes
that we have been teaching forever but does it in a
way that really improves student writing. The day
focuses on the basics of good writing and on
preparing students for benchmark tests, other
standardized writing, and end of level tests.
Designed for all levels and curriculum areas,
Writing TAGS fits perfectly with Smart Start, Smart
Step, Next Step, and other standards driven concepts and
methods. This is a very simplistic overview, and
there is much more to the Writing TAGS program
offered in the one day workshop. Participants will
come away from this lively presentation with ideas
they can use in the classroom
immediately.
Writing TAGS
Workbook
- The intention of this workbook
is to provide the teacher with basic instructional
information for teaching the Writing TAGS process
and to provide an array of activities for applying
that process. It is designed so that the teacher
can extend his/her knowledge of Writing TAGS and
can pick and choose activities or spin off of the
ideas we have included. Many of the assignments
work across the curriculum and do not have to be
considered just language arts assignments as they
may be interdisciplinary in nature.
Workbook Cost - $25.00 each

Writing
TAGS in the Math Classroom
Workshop
- This one day workshop is
designed specifically for math teachers and offers
a simple format for process writing using the
Writing TAGS program. It will give math instructors
some very user friendly ideas for helping students
prepare for benchmark testing, end-of-level tests,
open-ended response questions, and even Connected
Math. This informative workshop will provide some
practical and proven methods to give math teachers
the confidence they need to address writing in the
math classroom.

WINGS -
Performance Assessment Workshop
- This workshop offers
alternatives to "same old-same old" assignments. It
takes critical thinking to a new level of fun and
challenge. From projects to presentations to actual
hands-on "how to's" and many other cool things,
teachers will hear performance assessment ideas
that will allow students in any classroom to take
"wings" and "fly." Although many of the projects
and lesson plans have a language arts focus, a goal
of the day is to help teachers in all disciplines
with performance assessment ideas. Because emphasis
is put on writing to accompany these alternative
assessments, participants might find this a good
accompaniment to the Writing TAGS training. Don't
miss this lively and worthwhile one day
presentation.
WINGS Workbook
- This workbook provides teachers
with actual lesson plans and student examples for
the projects and presentations that are presented
in the workshop. It is an excellent reference
source for dozens of performance assessments ideas.
It includes a gamut of plans for teaching creative
writing, book reports, story boards, plot pyramids,
poetry, presentations, technology, and the list
goes on.!

- Buddy
Books Workshop
- Our Buddy Books project is a
collaboration between eighth grade and second grade
students although other levels could buddy. The
older students write, illustrate, and publish a
children's book. They use information, experiences,
and input from their younger buddies to formulate
their stories. These stories are turned into
children's books complete with illustrations and
the finished books are then given to the second
graders. This workshop not only walks through the
story writing process but also offers great tips on
developing a buddy system with another class or
group. This one day workshop will provide specific
lesson plans and student samples, will include a
student-made multimedia presentation, and will give
teachers an opportunity to work with HyperStudio
technology.
