The seventh child of Samuel and Elizabeth Rader McClung was b. 1 (7th) Dec 1814 in Nicholas Co., VA. He md 27 Jan 1842 (Fayette Co. Mg, p. 9 gives 27 Jan 1848) to Mary Newman Alderson (b. 27 Nov 1822; d. 18 Sep 1899). He was a stone mason. He was a tax assessor for eight years. He was president of the County Court for two terms. He lived on McClung Branch near Peter's Creek, Enon, WV. In 1850 he had three children and Washington Grose living with him. (1850c N, Mc J 12:5). In 1880 he had three children still with him and Luther and Ella Stephenson, grandchildren, living with them (1880c N, Mc J 15:4). He died 22 Feb 1888. Nine children. (AFN:1GDQ-PBX=gives son, Watson)
Mary Newman ALDERSON was born 1822. She died 1899. Mary married Allen MCCLUNG.

The first child of Allen and Mary N. Alderson McClung was b. 21 Feb 1845. He belonged to the Greenbrier Cavalry, and was wounded while in the Confederate army at Monoxie River, MD. He was captured and died in the Federal hospital at Frederick City MD 10 Aug 1864.

The fifth child of William and Abigail Dickinson McClung was b. 20 Dec 1777. He is said to have been the first white child born on Meadow River, Greenbrier County, WV.
He md 1) 1 May 1804 to Jane Cavendish (b. abt 1779, d. 4 Dec 1828) (Gr Mg,42). He md 2) Easter Amick. Franzy Creek was originally called Easter Branch after this lady. She acted as the first midwife and as a sort of doctor in the earliest days of Mt. Lookout.
He died abt 1855 and was the first person buried in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Mt. Lookout, WV. He had seven children:

The third child of Capt. Samuel and Rebecca Bourland McClung was b. abt 1778. He md 2 Dec 1802 to Jane Dean (Gr Mg, 5) of Bath Co., VA. (She b. 11 Sep 1782; d. 20 June 1843) They resided in Greenbrier Co., VA. They had nine children, all girls except Stuart and he only had a girl so there are no descendants carrying the name.
Jane DEAN was born 1782. She died 1843. Jane married Andrew MCCLUNG on 1802.

The first child of Andrew and Jane Dean McClung was b. abt 1804 in Greenbrier Co., VA. He owned one of the finest farms in Greenbrier Co. He went to Chicago and dealt extensively in cattle. He was at one time quite wealthy; but the close of the Civil War found him with a large stock of cattle on his hands. They depreciated in value so as to almost bankrupt him.
He md Rebecca Ann Crawford. They had one child.F ii Rebecca (Sarah C.) MCCLUNG was born 1818.
John MCCLUNG [Parents] "Katy John" was born 1809. He died 1834. Katy John married Rebecca BURR on 1833.

The sixth child of William and Margaret Bollar McClung was b. 19 May 1809 in Williamsburg Dist.of Greenbrier Co. He md 1) 18 Apr 1833 Rebecca Burr (Gr Mg, 42) (She b. 12 June 1807 to Aaron Burr and Rebecca Collins Burr; d. 23 Mar 1882). They are recorded in the 1850 census of Greenbrier Co. with six children. (1850c Gr, 15) They had eight children. (Note: This Aaron Burr was b. abt 1776 in Connecticut and came to Greenbrier 1780-5. He died in 1834. Rebecca Collins Burr was born in Hampshire Co., VA and died abt 1852)

John died 19 Jan 1900.JOHN McCLUNG - born May 19, 1809, on the farm now owned by Franklin McCLUNG, in Williamsburg District, has always lived in this district, and been one of its farmers for many years. His first wife was Rebecca, daughter of Aaron and Rebecca (COLLINS) BURR. She was born in this county, on Spring Creek, June 12, 1807, and her parents were married and died in this county. Her father was born in Connecticut, about 1776, and came to Greenbrier County with his father between 1780 and 1785, and he died in 1834. His wife was born in Hampshire County, (then) Virginia, and she died about 1852. John McCLUNG and Rebecca BURR were married April 19, 1833, and their children are recorded: Mary Jane, born July 30, 1834, is the wife of Albert FULWIDER, living in Harrisonville, Meigs County, Ohio; James Robert, born May 23, 1836, was in the Confederate service, took a fever at White Sulphur Springs and died May 8, 1862; Sarah Isabella, born January 8, 1839, married William DEARING, and lives in Williamsburg District; Harriet Virginia, born July 11, 1841, married George W. She is a daughter of Aaron BURR, jr., who died suddenly September 17, 1882, and Margaret (McMILLION) BURR, who died January 2, 1858. William McCLUNG, known to local fame as "Long Billy McCLUNG", father of John McCLUNG, was born in Greenbrier County, April 1, 1777. He was a son of James McCLUNG, who was a son of Samuel McCLUNG, who came from Ireland and settled in Meadow Bluff District, this county, in pioneer days. The mother of William McCLUNG was of unknown parentage, found deserted in the fort in her infancy, and adopted and raised by Colonel DICKENSON. William McCLUNG first married Margaret BOLLAR, who was the mother of the subject of this sketch, and for his second wife he married Martha McMILLION. Margaret Bollar was born in June, 1781, in Bath and William McCLUNG died August 10, 1866. John McCLUNG's postoffice address is Williamsburg, Greenbrier County, West Virginia.
