*Jordan, a forward?
The coach of the Washington Wizards mentioned that should Jordan play again, he would probably not be returning to the guard position. Not mentioned is Jordan's advancing age, and hence lessening speed. Collins did say that Jordan has become much stronger, and would likely being doing lots of posting. Don't believe it? Read it for yourself, here. Additionaly, there is an article on an injury Jordan recieved about a week ago. He apparently broke two ribs while playing a pickup game. Jordan will require three weeks to heal, and another three to five weeks before he can resume training. Read the full report, here.

*Lakers Repeat!
Today, the Lakers quieted all the doubters, and proved that last year's win was indeed, not a fluke. With power and poise, the Lakers won the NBA Championships again, this time defeating the Philadelphia 76ers, four games to one. The sheer ease with which the Lakers seemed to dispatch most of the opposition is a testament to their abilities to play as a team. Earlier in the season, many believed that the rift growing between Kobe, Shaq, and Phil would end the Lakers. While it did provide much drama, the rift closed, and now the team is stronger than ever. *Olajuwon on Bandwagon
The Houston Rockets Hall of Fame center, Hakeem "the Dream" Olajuwon, has expressed interest in playing with, none other than, Michael Jordan. After all, who wouldn't want to play with MJ? Even this lowly webmaster would enjoy playing with MJ. Of course, all this speculation is for naught if Mr. Air himself decides not to come back. We'll all just have to wait and see. *New Reading Program
On Tuesday, the National Basketball Association launched a national campaign aimed at youngsters. Was this program to get people to buy their products? No, it was a reading program! Their new program, dubbed "Read to Achieve," will be the centerpiece of their entire community outreach efforts. Read about it here.

*Barkley Getting in Shape
Barkley and Jordan have both been working out, trying to get their weights down. Barkley indicated that the hire of Doug Collins was an excellent indication of Jordan's intentions to return. The big news is that once Barkley is done broadcasting on TNT, he will live and train with Jordan in Chicago. Get the other details here.
*Chinese Star Stays Home
Chinese Star Yao Ming won't be entering the 2001 NBA draft. After much thought, Yao and his coach have decided that he is not, as of yet, ready to play in the NBA. They feel that he will need sharpen up both physically and mentally. They also feel that by staying, Yao will be able to help China's fledgling professional league. Next year remains up in the air. *Dunleavy Fired!
The coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, Mike Dunleavy, was fired on Tuesday night. After failing to make the playoffs yet again, the management decided that Dunleavy had to go. Read about the specifics here.
*Chinese Star Cleard by Team
The Chinese star Yao Ming has been cleared by his team to play in the NBA. Yao is a 7'6" center who has been the center of much talk lately. People still are still skeptical about Yao's chances to make the draft deadline, saying that the government still needs to clear Yao. Read up here.

*New Hall of Fame
There's a new Hall of Fame being built in Springfield, you guessed it, Massachusetts. =o) It's currently under construction, and its meant to be in the shape of a giant basketball. Its expected to be finished by July of 2002. You can read more about it here.
*Hornets No Longer Looking to Move
After their recent success in the playoffs, the Hornets have decided that it really isn't as necessary to move. The attendance during their first round sweep of the Miami Heat was apparently enough to convince the owners to stay. Read more about the change of mind here.

*Barkley Speaks on Coming out of Retirement

*MJ Chimes In
Goodness! Now even MJ is starting to tease us. While he has not moved from his positiion of 99.9% he's not coming back, he has given us more to think about. On a recent televised interview with NBC, Jordan said, "It's definitely the challenge." So now we know why he'd want to come back after his picture perfect exit. All that remains is whether or not he will. Check it out here.

*The Rumor Mill Grinds On
People still won't let it die. The rumors are still flying about Jordan's supposed return. It only got worse when Jordan introduced his former coach Doug Collins as the new head coach for the Wizards. Barkley of course, is still fanning the flames, teasing everyone with "maybes." *Cuban Fined Again
Maverick owner Mark Cuban was fined yet again. This time, he was guilty of making derogatory gestures towards officials. In addition, Cuban has been suspended for one game. He owes $100,000 and will serve his one game suspension tonight, when the Mavs host the Kings.
*New Rule Changes!!
The NBA Board of Governors has recently made a rule change that will take in effect starting next year. The new rule will eliminate the "illegal defense" violation, and allow teams to play a zone defense. They hope that in doing so, the game flow will increase with more points scored in each games.
