 Your actions in a Counter-Strike game can earn or cost you money.  Each player can earn up to $16000.  Money is used to buy better weapons and armor.  By completing certain events, you can not only earn money for yourself, but also for your teammates.  Here is a list of actions and how much you can lose or earn:
 
Action Earn/Deductions
Killing an Opponent +$300 for individual
Killing a Teammate -$3300 for individual
Killing a Hostage -$2250 for individual
"Use" a Hostage +$150 for individual, +$100 for teammates
Rescuing a Hostage +$1000 for individual, +$150 for teammates (awarded at end of round)
Terrorist Win by Bombing Target +$2750 for all team members
CT's Win by Defusing Bomb +$2750 for all team members
CT's Win by Rescuing All Hostages +$2000 for all team members + Hostage bonuses
Surviving Hostage Bonus +$150 per hostage for all team members
Hostages Rescued Bonus +$250 per hostage for all CT team members
Win by Elimination on Hostage Map +$2000 for all team members
Win by Elimination on Bomb Map +$2500 for all team members
Either Team Loses Round +$1400 for all team members
Either Team Loses over 2 Consecutive Rounds +$1400 + $500 per round over 2 (to maximum of $2900) for all team members
