Wednesday, November 17, 2004 - Shen and Zhao won the Cup of China Grand Prix event last week, placing 1st in both the Short Program and Free Skate. Xue put her hand down on the throw
triple loop in the Short Program, but it was an otherwise elegant and beautiful performance. Shen and Zhao earned 62.28 points in the Short Program. In the Free Skate Xue stepped out of the throw triple loop, but she and Hongbo completed the rest of their elements very strongly in a moving and dramatic
performance to music from "The Soong Sisters." They earned 127.16 points in the Free Skate, and overall scored a total of 193.54 points in the competition. The silver medalists at Cup of China were their teammates Zhang and Zhang, and the bronze medalists

Friday, April 4, 2004 - Shen and Zhao skated a brand new exhibition program at the World Championships in Dortmund, Germany to "Come What May" from the
"Moulin Rouge" soundtrack. It appears that this will be their Champions on Ice program as well. Speaking of which, I will be seeing Champions on Ice this Saturday in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the very first stop on the Champions on Ice tour. I am very excited to see
Xue and Hongbo live in person for the very first time. I will have a report of Xue and Hongbo's program along with reports of the other skaters at The Skate Blade early next week. I hope many skating fans out there
will see Champions on Ice live. It looks like a great tour with a lot of fantastic skaters. :) |
