The U.S. Forest service is actively trying to stifle your voice on important issues relating to the management of your public lands and tax dollars. Please, take a moment of your time to tell the Forest Service that your voice counts! All you need to do is hit REPLY to send your objections to Forest Service Chief Dale Bosworth. If you would prefer to personalize your comments, please go to http://www.actioncenter.org/campaign/spam .

In recent months, a number of our members have contacted us at the Heritage Forests Campaign to let us know that their emails to the Forest Service have been returned to them, unread. We've investigated the situation and found that the Forest Service is using a SPAM blocker that frequently rejects letters from our members as well as those from nearly every other environmental and business membership group. Although we have asked the Forest Service to allow your letters to get through, they've refused.

This is just one example of the Forest Service's attempts to limit your ability to comment. Regulations tucked deep into the National Forest Management Act would also allow the Forest Service to deny pre-printed postcard comments, emails, and even petitions in certain circumstances.

We won't stand for this sort of treatment and neither should you. The Heritage Forests Campaign, along with several other concerned environmental and business groups, has already written to the Forest Service expressing our dismay at this treatment. Now it's your turn. Please take a moment to write the US Forest Service Chief, Dale Bosworth, and let him know that your comments aren't Spam!

All you need to do is hit the REPLY button to send a message to Chief Bosworth. If you would like to personalize your comments, please go to http://www.actioncenter.org/campaign/spam .

Particularly to our members with AOL, Juno, Yahoo, MSN and Prodigy.com email addresses, there is a decent chance your letter will be blocked by the Forest Service's Spam filter. If this happens, please follow the directions below to make sure Chief Bosworth knows you are not Spam:

1. print out the text of your email and FAX it to 202-205-1765

2. Call Chief Bosworth at 202-205-1661 and tell him that your comments aren't Spam.

3. Place your letter in an envelope and mail it to:

Chief Dale Bosworth U.S. Forest Service P.O. Box 96090 Washington, D.C. 20090-6090

4. Drop us a line at comments@ourforests.org and let us know what response, if any, you receive.
