David's Antique Radio Room

Notes:

Westinghouse model H-715T5. This is an FM only radio circa 1957 which features twin speakers for full, rich sound. In the 1950's, AM/FM radios were not very common, as AM broadcast was still the band which most people listened to. In the late 1950's, a few manufacturers started producing FM only sets as a cheap alternative to the somewhat costly AM/FM sets. This provided people who already had an AM radio with an inexpensive way to hear stations on the relatively new FM band. I think the tuning dial on this set looks like a big eyeball! I bought this set for $7.99 and haven't done anything with it except give it a good cleaning and replace a couple of bad tubes. It still rocks with sound thanks to its twin speakers.
